JANESVILLE----Gladys H. Dalton, age 83, formerly of 2707 N. Lexington Dr., died on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home, where she has been a resident for the past three years. She was born in Fennimore, WI on Jan. 26, 1923, the seventh of nine children to Ben and Matilda (Mickelson) Bowers. She married Paul E. Newbold in 1946 and James Q. Dalton on July 14, 1962, in Evansville. James preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1975. She has been a Janesville resident since 1962. She had previously been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Castaways, playing cards, and especially spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren and her special great-granddaughter Karly Drees.

Gladys is survived by her 3 daughters: Karan Collins of LaCrosse, Paulette (Walter) Jackson and Barbara (William) Schneider, both of Janesville; 10 grandchildren; Kelly (Phil) Drees, James Thompson(Amie), Mark Thompson (Kim), Neal Schneider (Shena), Pat Bangs, Jeff (Andrea) Bangs, Jennifer (Mike) Mysliwiec, Justin Krause, Alexia (Mike) Lawson and Ryan Krause. 4 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters: Alice Schill of Waunakee, WI., Beatrice (John) Winkers of Montfort, and Ruth (Bill) Redmond Bradenton, FL. Several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Vic Skelly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Dalton, 3 brothers: Bernard, Ralph and Tom, and 2 sisters, Marion Hyman and Walberga “Wally” Winters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. Donn Heiar presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Evansville. Friends may call at ST. JOHN VIANNEY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH on Thursday from 10:00 a.m until the time of Mass. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
