JANESVILLE--- Isla C. Schumacher, age 81, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Mercy Hospital. She was born on February 10, 1929 in Elk Grove Township, rural Lafayette County, the daughter of Clarence and Eileen �Nellie� (Burke) Schumacher. The family moved to Janesville in 1929. She attended St. Patrick�s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Janesville High School in 1947. Isla worked in many areas of the Parker Pen Company for 38 years before retiring as supervisor in the export Department in 1986. She then became the main caregiver of her parents. In her earlier years, Isla was an active member of the Catholic Women�s Club, ABWA, and the Royal Neighbors of America. She was a faithful member of St. William Catholic Church. Isla had resided at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville since May, 2009. She is survived by her 3 siblings: Charlotte McWilliams, Dick (Helen) Schumacher and Maurine Benish. Isla is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews and their families. In all her years she remembered each and every one of them on their birthdays and other special occasions in their lives as well as other relatives and friends. Isla was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Clair McWilliams and Clifford Benish; and a niece, Diane (McWilliams) Ries. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH, 456 N Arch St, Janesville, with Fr. Michael Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH. Memorial donations may be made to St. William Catholic Church or to St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville. The family is being assisted by the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Janesville. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the �girls� at Mercy Assisted Living and to the Sisters and aides at St. Elizabeth Manor for their exceptional care of Isla.
